Safety

Are these flights on smaller planes as safe as a scheduled airline flight? The excellent safety record of scheduled airlines is a result of having two pilots, two jet engines, regular training, and operating rules that build in some extra margins of safety such as reserve fuel and longer-than-necessary runways. Hanscom Charter will only be offering airplane flights with two pilots and two jet engines. Hanscom Charter and any companies to whom we refer customers will be operating under FAA Part 135 regulations, which have similar training and safety margin requirements to scheduled airlines. That said, some flights are more challenging than others. Going to an airport with a long runway and instrument landing system on a clear day is safer than trying to land on a shorter runway during bad weather at night. You can be a active partner in safety by moving a flight a few hours toward better weather.
